Six Ways To Conserve Your Electric Bike Battery

Electric bikes are convenient and fun for getting around. However, the only possible drawback is that they have limited battery life. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to preserve the battery of your electric bike and get more out of a single charge.

The following are six great ways to conserve your electric bike battery while you're out and about:

Pack a charger along with you

One of the easiest things you can do to maximize the range of your electric bike is to pack a charger to take with you. This way, you can take breaks while you're riding to hook your charger up to your battery and replenish your electric bike before you get started again.

When you pack a charger along with you, you can ride as long as you want as long as you are able to hook up to an electric supply down the road.

Make sure your tires are adequately inflated

The efficiency of an electric bike is diminished when the tires are not adequately inflated. You need to be aware of the ideal air pressure range for your tires and keep your tires adequately inflated to get as much distance as possible out of your battery.

Put more effort into pedaling

Electric bikes are designed so that the electric motor is used to power the bike when the rider is not pedaling. You can use less throttle and pedal more while biking to reduce your reliance on the battery to get more distance.

Optimize brake usage

Every time you brake, you're reducing efficiency and wasting already expended energy. It's best to use your brakes only when necessary.

Don't use your throttle to accelerate or continue moving forward if you're going to need to brake before you'll naturally slow down by going uphill or losing momentum due to wind resistance.

Keep your bike's chain well oiled

Another thing that reduces efficiency is inadequate lubrication on moving parts. In particular, you need to keep your chain adequately lubricated to minimize resistance due to friction.

Remember to let the oil sit for a few minutes on your chain before you wipe away the excess. This optimizes the lubrication process and ensures that the oil will penetrate throughout the entire chain assembly to maximize its effectiveness.

Don't go so fast

Slowing down can make your electric bike function more efficiently. Wind resistance increases when you're moving at higher speeds. If you travel at slower speeds, you'll get more distance out of your electric bike battery while traveling more safely at the same time.
